One of the most traditional and recognizable Italian desserts – and one that originated in Sicily, no less – is the cannoli. A relatively simple pastry that finishes off a meal nicely, especially when paired with espresso or a digestif.
From December 7 to 13, we held the inaugural “A Modo Mio Week” at Busalacchi’s A Modo Mio in Hillcrest. Chef Joe Busalacchi set aside his regular menu to do things “a modo mio” or “my way” for dinner service. Guests chose chicken, red meat, fish or vegetarian fare for the main course and Joe took care of the rest using fresh, seasonal, uncomplicated ingredients that are a hallmark of true Sicilian cooking. It was a surprise meal for the adventurous diner!
